Buccaneers vs Panthers: Point spread and game preview

Week 2 of the 2019 NFL season is about to open and today we will preview the Thursday Night football game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Carolina Panthers. Both the Panthers and the Buccaneers lost their NFL season openers, with both teams playing at home. While not an impressive performance by either team in Week 1, it would make for an interesting matchup this Thursday. As many of you probably expect, the Panthers are the favorite to win the opener of Week 2, so let’s take a look at the numbers posted by the betting sites.

At our top choice sportsbook – Bookmaker – the Buccaneers v Panthers point spread is currently at -6.5 chalk Carolina, but the payout is at -115, which indicates that soon the spread is expected to move up, possibly making the Panthers 7 points ATS. Seven points is the spread at another popular betting website, Bovada Sports, where the line has settled for now with -110 payoffs on either side of the spread. According to the line on the Tampa Bay Carolina game at Bovada, the Buccaneers stand no chance with +265 odds to win outright, while the Panthers are -330 favorite. If you plan on betting the favorite, Bookmaker would be the better choice, where the line is -300 on the Panthers and only +245 on Buccaneers. The over/under at both sportsbooks is at 49.5 points.
