Monday Night Football: Browns @ Jets line and spread

Week 2 of the 2019 NFL season will close with the Monday Night Football game between the Cleveland Browns and the New York Jets. Unless you are in Cleveland or NY, this would not be the ideal game to close the week, since both teams are off to a tough start, struggling on all counts, both offensively and defensively. The Browns got spanked by the Titans at home last week to open the season 0-1, while the Jets managed to lose to the Bills, also at home, but by just one point.

Regardless of last week’s result, the Jets are far from being favorite on anything, including this Monday’s point spread and money line. Hardly a surprise since Jets QB Darnold is out for at least a few weeks (diagnosed with mono, nonetheless) and backup Trevor Siemian is yet to prove himself on the battlefield. Meanwhile Baker Mayfield seems to be doing just fine with the Browns and even though they’ll be visiting the Jets this week, the sportsbooks have Cleveland big favorite to win the game.

Gogin straight to the horse’s mouth, we find the money line on the Browns at Bookmaker at -285 with the odds on the Jets to pull off and upset fluid at +234. At the same betting site, the point spread on the Browns v Jets game is at -7 points chalk Cleveland and the total expected is 45 points. Looking at Bovada Sports, we find the same -7 point spread in favor of the Cleveland Browns and the same over/under numbers. The Jets are slightly bigger underdog at this sports betting website, +240 on winning the game outright and the Browns are -290 favorite to get their first win of the season. Looking at the first-half line, the sportsbooks aren’t expecting any big shifts between half-time, nor any explosive action or comebacks. The spread on the first-half is at -3.5 points for the Browns, and the over/under is also split in half.
